VMware Solution Exchange (VSX)

Contributor(s): Tom Walat

The VMware Solution Exchange (VSX) is an online marketplace where potential customers can browse, download and rate the products uploaded by developers and VMware partners.

Partners and developers can use this self-service portal to publish virtual appliances, plug-ins and other offerings for use in vSphere and vCloud Air environments. VSX also allows vendors to post support documents, screenshots, deployment guides, whitepapers, videos and other material to their products.

Users can search for products by using keywords, browsing by category or narrowing results with filters, and then sort the results by various criteria such as rating and popularity.

VMware separates VSX into five areas: Virtual Appliances Marketplace, Cloud Management Marketplace, vCloud Air Marketplace, Technology Partners Marketplace and End User Computing Marketplace.

VMware started the VSX in January 2012.
