VMware has officially announced vSphere 4, its next-gen enterprise virtualization product suite. This release promises to display the innovation one would expect after VMware's three-year quiet period since its last major product release, VMware ESX.
Highlights of vSphere include increased security options with vShield Zones and the VMsafe application programming interface (API); Storage VMotion integration; vStorage thin provisioning to cut down on storage consumption; Fault Tolerence, which will provide more availability; and increased vSwitch options and functionality.
