About vMotion and Storage vMotion
VMotion is a VMware product that enables you to move a live or running virtual machine to a different host server without shutting it down. If you've never used it before, you can get step-by-step instructions on how to obtain, configure and use VMotion here.
But VMotion does have some gotchas that involve network and storage. Our technical tips explain how to circumvent these issues.
Storage VMotion enables you to migrate virtual machine disk files across storage arrays without shutting down the virtual machines. You can find usage scenarios and step-by-step beginner's how-tos here.
