vmkping

Contributor(s): Tom Walat

Vmkping is a command used to verify and troubleshoot VMkernel network connectivity.

Administrators can use vmkping to diagnose configuration settings when, for example, a host server cannot connect to a storage device on the same network. Vmkping is executed from a command-line interface (CLI) either directly from the console of the ESX/ESXi host server or remotely from a secure shell (SSH) interface.
